Like a big steam passenger locomotive is the first thing that would come to mind when people hear the word, “train”, and even in marketing, that very engine is used in the promotion of railway advertisements.

Even though the RWS was just more an ensemble cast, it really did feel as if Gordon was the main character in the books, and rightly so, as he has the very personality of a protagonist, and plus, when you think about trains, and you think about railways, the kind of engine they use to represent that motif are big, powerful, express steam locomotives, in this case, Gordon. So thank you very much! Here’s a link to that specific video, But yeah, to get on point, if you guys read the RWS books through all 42 volumes, you realize that Gordon appeared in a handful of stories, and as the Unlucky Tug said, his story arc was the one that really stood out more than anyone else, as like from the very first book, the Three Railway Engines, it felt as if we were following Gordon, where he starts off as the newest type of express steam engine introduced at the time, and how this influences his pompous behavior, to the very end whereas mentioned, he’s matured, wise, and aging just as much as Edward did, and where he humbly retires from the express after 88 years, with Pip & Emma taking over. Oh, and Unlucky Tug, if someday you ever read this, I really enjoy your content, and you are one of the best Thomas fans I’ve ever known, and I really can’t to see what else you got in your own head canon. The moment I watched his video about Gordon, you have no idea how blown away my mind was, because everything he said about him got me thinking, and it began to make me love Gordon even more, and even giving me ideas about my own take on the big blue engine. And if you guys remember the Unlucky Tug’s video from last year where he did a whole character analysis on Gordon, even stating him as the franchise’s most important character.

But what is it that makes Gordon the Big Engine such an awesome and influential character to all of us fans? Well for starters, he had the greatest character arc back from the original Railway Series books, and the first 4 seasons of the franchise, where he started off as a pompous and arrogant dickhead that would always belittle everyone, and always got his comeuppance because of his massive ego, to where he would learn overtime over his mistakes overtime, and gradually matured into a wise, kind-hearted, humble, and honorable express engine that would respect his fellow engines, even becoming both a mentor and a father figure like Edward. But when my love for Thomas the Tank Engine increased even more in the summer of 2011, and then later in my sophomore year, so did my love for Gordon, as I really began to respect this guy, as he really is that great of a character. But that all changed when I started to enter high school and I began to like Gordon very much. Though if you guys remember watching my videos on YouTube, you probably would’ve known back then when I was a child, Gordon was my least favorite character, as back then, I really didn’t like him, as I used to think he was such a great big jerk who was always very mean to everybody just to boast his ego. Gordon is easily another favorite of mine, as this character has honestly meant a lot to me in recent years, and not adding him on this list are not being a favorite of mine would be -Gordon: Disgraceful!-James: Disgusting!-Henry: Despicable! Exactly, so I’m glad I did.
